Anskohk Aboriginal Literature Festival and Book Awards - Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Basil Johnston and Book Award Winners Announced



    CALGARY, Oct. 20 /CNW/ - The Anskohk Aboriginal Literature Festival was
pleased to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Basil Johnston. He is
a highly respected author, storyteller, and preserver of the Anishinaubae
language. He has written over 20 books as well as a novel and numerous
articles that have been published in newspapers, anthologies and periodicals.
    Organizers of this year's festival were pleased to have over 30 books
submitted by publishers to this year's awards. The winning authors in the
categories of Poetry Book of the Year, Children's Book of the Year and Fiction
Book of the Year will receive a $1,000 prize. The winning author of the
McNally Robinson Aboriginal Book of the Year is awarded a $5,000 prize.
    The winners of this year's book awards are as follows:
