QUEBEC, June 19 /CNW Telbec/ - There was excitement in the air at the
Capitole de Québec where the Québec Entrepreneurship Contest's Provincial and
International Grand Prize Gala was in full swing. Welcomed by Honorary
President Jean-Marc Léger, President of Léger Marketing, invited guests,
dignitaries, finalists and partners had the opportunity to congratulate
winners who shared 58 prizes totalling $300 000 in award money.
Mr. Léger were surrounded by numerous public figures, including
Ms. Michelle Courchesne, Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and
Minister of Families, Ms.Yolande James, Minister of Immigration and Cultural
Communities and Ms. Christine St-Pierre, Minister of Culture, Communications
and the Status of Women, who were each giving away prices. In addition,
numerous financial partners were present such as Raymond Chabot Grant
Thornton, the Mouvement des caisses Desjardins, the Chambre des notaires du
Québec, The Counselling Foundation of Canada, many ministries and
organizations of the Government of Québec, as well as Service Canada.
The Contest fosters the values of creativity, leadership, dynamism and
innovation within its two main categories, Student Entrepreneurship and
Business Creation. Year after year, the judges are impressed by the diversity
and quality of the candidates, but this year, they were struck by the fact
that more than half of the young entrepreneurs had developed projects
reflecting societal preoccupations, by proposing ecological solutions linked
to sustainable development.
The Contest is proud to announce its 2007 Grand Prize winners and invites
you to find out more about the winning projects in both the Business Creation
and Student Entrepreneurship categories, for each of Québec's 17 regions. The
Cahier des lauréats (in French) will be available on the Contest Web site in
the morning of Wednesday, June 20, 2007. It provides the names of the
finalists and provincial prizewinners in all categories along with a brief
descriptions of their projects, and lists the names of jury members,
collaborators, partners and Contest representatives.
