Over 240 Towns Nominated to Earn a $25,000 Community Donation and National
TORONTO, April 12, 2011 /CNW/ -- The polls are officially open for anglers from across Canada to cast their vote at www.WFNFishingTown.com for WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town Canada. The winning town will earn a $25,000 community donation, WaveSpin Reels and a feature of their town, airing on WFN: World Fishing Network. Last year, Port Alberni, B.C. was named WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town 2011.
For the past six weeks, WFN, North America's only 24-hour fishing lifestyle network, asked anglers to nominate what they believed to be Canada's Ultimate Fishing Town. Thousands responded by nominating 240 different towns throughout Canada. Anglers can vote up to four times daily during designated voting blocks online at www.WFNFishingTown.com.
WFN has divided Canada into four voting regions The first round of public voting is open from April 12-May 3 with the three entries with the highest vote totals from each region plus eight "wild cards" selected by WFN, advancing to the final round of voting from May 10 - 31. The results will be announced in June at a ceremony in the winning community emceed by Mariko Izumi, host of WFN's Hookin' Up.
"Once again, the anglers in Canada have spoken nominating more than 240 towns with over 1,000 supporting entries and more than 2,000 photos and videos," said Shauna Gosevitz, Sr. Director of Marketing for WFN.
