    Stock Symbol: MBT

TORONTO, May 21 /CNW/ - Today, in a keynote address to more than 2,200
key industry figures at the Cisco Networkers Solutions Forum in Toronto, Dean
Prevost, President, Enterprise Solutions division at MTS Allstream,
highlighted the leadership that Allstream is providing in the development and
delivery of virtual workplace solutions to businesses of all sizes across
Canada.
"The reasons to explore a virtual workplace strategy are numerous - and
compelling - in today's increasingly competitive world. Our solutions will
reduce costs, provide your people with more flexibility, strengthen
collaboration and expand your talent pool. They will also enable you to
develop better business continuity plans for emergencies and green your
business by reducing employee commuting and corporate travel," said Prevost.
"Creating a virtual workplace for a multi-site organization with hundreds or
thousands of employees, in different time zones, with many variables to juggle
is complicated and difficult to deliver. Allstream can make the virtual
workplace a reality. We've done it ourselves, and we're helping customers
across Canada realize the same benefits."
Allstream is taking virtual workplace to heart, with over 600 workers in
the Greater Toronto Area and Montreal participating in an internal teleworking
initiative. The program has reduced green-house gas emissions by 550 metric
tones in 2008 alone, and 90% of the employees indicate that teleworking has
made them more productive. A lowered requirement for real estate has also
allowed Allstream to realize significant cost savings of about $1 million per
year. This figure continues to grow as the program expands and real estate
consolidation increases. It is these tangible results that are leading
businesses across Canada to consider virtual workplace solutions for
themselves.
"At Allstream, we have more than 160 years of experience in brining
innovation to enterprise customers across Canada. And today we're moving into
the exciting area of the virtual workplace, and the solutions that enable it,"
added Prevost.
