Allstate Insurance gives back to Kingston Boys and Girls Club

KINGSTON, ON, March 14 /CNW/ - Allstate Insurance Company of Canada and
Green Solutions North America Inc. have teamed up to donate office furniture
including: desks, chairs, filing cabinets, and computer equipment to the
Boys and Girls Club of Kingston and Area.
Jim Dorey, who recently retired after more than 26 years as an Allstate
Agent said, "I have lived, worked and raised my family in Kingston and it is a
real privilege to be able to give something back to the community that has
given so much to me. The Boys and Girls Club is very close to my heart and I'm
very proud and excited to provide them with some office furniture so they can
continue to provide the children in our community essential services."
Green Solutions North America Inc.'s mission is to connect deserving
organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Club that are in need of furniture
and/or IT equipment with companies like Allstate who have redundant corporate
assets. If there are items that cannot be redistributed Green Solutions
recycles the material using best environmental practices.
To date, items from 21 locations have been donated by Allstate and GSNA
to 10 different organizations across Quebec and Ontario. In addition to
providing a hand up to organizations that need it, Allstate is also
significantly reducing the amount of waste that would have ended up in a
landfill. Allstate's partnership with Green Solutions has resulted in over
53 tonnes of redundant assets being diverted from landfill sites.
"Every year, millions of tonnes of corporate waste go into landfills,
despite the fact that most of it is perfectly usable," said Jim Reid, CEO of
Green Solutions North America Inc. "It's not only quite wasteful but hazardous
to the environment, as well. Companies, such as Allstate Canada who have made
this donation possible, realize this and, through our Corporate Waste to
Educational Wonder(TM) process, avoid contributing to this growing problem
while making a significant difference to both kids across the world and people
in their own community."
