All Ontario North East Public Elementary Teachers And Occasional Teachers Covered by New Collective Agreements



    TORONTO, May 4 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers and occasional
teachers, members of the Ontario North East Elementary Teacher Local and
Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario
(ETFO), have ratified new four-year collective agreements.
    "Every ratification is an endorsement of our campaign to improve working
conditions for public elementary teachers and occasional teachers. Each
contract that is settled also means improved learning conditions for students
along with peace and stability for that community," said ETFO President David
Clegg.
    The Ontario North East Elementary Teacher Local represents approximately
380 public elementary school teachers and the Ontario North East Occasional
Teacher Local represents approximately 260 occasional teachers. Their last
contracts expired August 31, 2008.

    The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
