TORONTO, June 29 /CNW/ - Today marks the start of another busy season
aboard Ontario Northland's Polar Bear Express, a summer excursion train. In
2008, the Polar Bear Express was featured in an episode of the television
show, "The World's Greatest...!" as the "World's Greatest Rail Excursion!" If
you have ever been on this trip, you will understand why.
This year, the Polar Bear Express will travel daily, except Saturday,
from Monday, June 29 until Friday, August 28, 2009.
Polar Bear Express passengers will travel through spectacular forests and
rugged wetlands, and across fierce rivers once navigated by early native
peoples, explorers and fur traders. They will encounter the unique culture of
the Cree people and step back in time to the early days of the Hudson's Bay
Company. This is truly an opportunity not to be missed!
New to this year, The Discovery Channel company has produced a
comprehensive audio tour. While in Moosonee you can explore our rich history,
as the town is Ontario's only salt-water port and was established by the
Révillon Frères Company of Paris in 1903. You will then take a short boat trip
to the island of Moose Factory, the oldest English-speaking settlement in
Ontario and the birthplace of the famed Hudson's Bay Company.
Get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime journey, all aboard the Polar Bear
