Algoma Occasional Teachers Say Yes to Tentative Deal

TORONTO, April 24 /CNW/ - Public elementary occasional teachers, members
of the Algoma Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation
of Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative collective agreement with the Algoma
District School Board this evening.
"The ETFO takeover team has done a fantastic job for our members. They
met with the board on numerous occasions and bargained around the clock to get
a deal," said ETFO President David Clegg. "This agreement benefits elementary
occasional teachers, the Algoma District School Board, and elementary
students," Clegg said.
Details of the agreement will be available following a members'
ratification vote.
The Algoma Occasional Teacher Local represents approximately 270 public
elementary occasional teachers. Their last contract expired August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
