Alberta women get inspired by Canada's most accomplished business women in the second annual Women's Leadership Forum

    CALGARY, March 12 /CNW/ - When Calgary's second annual Women's Leadership
Forum comes to town today, more than 1,000 women from across Canada will
expand their professional networks, broaden their knowledge base and hone
their leadership skills in sessions with the most accomplished business women
in Canada.
Karen Radford, president of TELUS Partner Solutions and TELUS Québec, and
one of the founding members of the Women's Leadership Forum, is Monday's
keynote speaker on the subject "Dreams, Dragons and Dares: You have the
Power."
"This is the second time Calgary has hosted this one-of-a-kind dynamic
event that brings professional women together to talk about their
opportunities and challenges," said Karen Radford. "It's a unique chance for
business women in Western Canada to learn from women leaders who have achieved
success in business, and in their personal and community roles. Participants
in the Women's Leadership Forum will take the next bold steps toward achieving
their own personal greatness."
This year's second Women's Leadership Forum themed "Courage - Beyond
Inspiration" is a two-day event focusing on three integrated pillars:
Awakening, Balance and Career Aspirations. Over 20 speakers will present their
business acumen and personal leadership smarts from March 11 to March 13 at
the TELUS Convention Centre. Speakers include Karen Radford, Sharon Wood, Jan
Hargrave and Dr. Janet Lapp.
TransCanada Corporation is proud to be involved with the Women's
Leadership Forum through its support of event co-founder, Valerie Nishi, a
senior consultant in the company's Human Resources department, as well as its
sponsorship.
"The Women's Leadership Forum will bring together business women of
different backgrounds, professions and ages and provide them with the
inspiration and tools to step into their enormous potential to lead at work,
at home and in our communities," says Sarah Raiss, executive vice-president,
Corporate Services, TransCanada. "The forum will set a standard of excellence
in helping women expand their networks, grow personally and professionally,
and hone their leadership skills."
TELUS and TransCanada have signed on as platinum partners for the two-day
event which features speakers, a variety of workshops and expert panel
discussions. Alberta's public and private sectors have shown overwhelming
support for the forum.
