    CALGARY, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - Alberta Oilsands Inc. ("AOS" or the "Company")
(TSXV: AOS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Greg Hu as Vice
President, Exploration.
    As V.P. Exploration, Dr. Greg Hu brings over 20 years of technical
expertise, instinct and vision to the Alberta Oilsands team. Founder and
president of his own oil sands consulting company, Dr. Hu has been active as a
technical advisor providing advice on many oil sands project related issues.
Dr. Hu has invented a patent-pending oil sands technology that integrates
different forms of digital well data into geological interpretation.
    Dr. Hu was an Exploration Manager and Geological Advisor for Value
Creation Inc., designing and executing multiple drilling programs that added
billions of barrels of bitumen resources. In a senior technical role for
Petro-Canada, Dr. Hu led the company's oil sands geological team with
successful results and initiated a study into oil sands reservoir
heterogeneities that dictates steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) well
productivity. He has also examined the relationship between geology and steam
chamber development with historical data of SAGD pilot projects.
    Dr. Hu has a Ph.D. degree in geology from The University of Western
Ontario in Canada and a B.Sc. degree and a M.Sc. degree in geology from The
China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, China. Dr. Hu is a professional
geologist and a member of The Association of Professional Engineers,
Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta, The Canadian Society of Petroleum
Geologists and The American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He also
founded and chaired a technical division for the Canadian Society of Petroleum
Geologists.
