Alaska Airlines Announces New Bellingham-Las Vegas Nonstop Flights for $59 One Way



    SEATTLE, April 8 /CNW/ -- Alaska Airlines today announced new nonstop
service between Bellingham, Wash., and Las Vegas starting June 25, 2009. The
flights will operate each way on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Horizon Air
and Alaska Airlines will also continue to offer four-times-daily
Bellingham-Las Vegas service via Seattle.
    

    
    Alaska Airlines is offering $59 one-way fares on the new nonstop route
for tickets purchased by April 22, 2009, for travel through Aug. 30, 2009. The
airline also is offering  Las Vegas Vacations packages for as low as $208 per
person, which includes round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations for two
nights.
    

    
    "The addition of Bellingham-Las Vegas nonstop service gives our customers
another convenient alternative for traveling between the Pacific Northwest and
the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and the popular destination of Las
Vegas," said Steve Jarvis, Alaska's vice president of marketing, sales and
customer experience.
    

    
    The flights will depart Bellingham International Airport at 5:35 p.m. and
arrive in Las Vegas at 8:05 p.m. Return flights will depart Las Vegas at 2
p.m., arriving in Bellingham at 4:35 p.m. The airline will use fuel-efficient
Boeing 737-700 aircraft on the route, seating 112 passengers in the main cabin
and 12 in first class.
    

    
    Customers of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air receive a variety of
amenities at no extra charge, including online reservations and advance seat
selection. Onboard, there is no charge for water, soft drinks, coffee, tea and
snacks, or for the use of pillows and blankets.
    

    
    Travelers can earn double Mileage Plan miles on the new flights from June
25 through Aug. 30, 2009. To qualify, customers must first register at
alaskaair.com.
    

    
    Fares are available for purchase today on alaskaair.com starting at 7
p.m. Pacific time or by calling (800) ALASKAAIR (TTY/TDD line 800-392-0228).
    

    
    Alaska Airlines previously served Bellingham from 1989 to 1992, and since
has been serving the market via sister airline Horizon Air.
    

    
    Fare Rules: Fare is each way and is valid for nonstop flights departing
Thursday, Friday and Sunday from June 25, 2009, through Aug. 30, 2009. Seats
are limited and may not be available on all flights or days. Vacations package
price shown is per person based on adult double occupancy and includes
round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations for two nights at Circus Circus
Las Vegas. Package price shown requires departures on select Fridays. Other
departure days, hotels and lengths of stay are available; and prices will
vary. All terms and conditions of Alaska Airlines Vacations apply. Prices do
not include Airport Passenger Facility Charges of up to $9 depending on
itinerary, U.S. Federal Segment Tax of $3.60 per segment (takeoff and landing)
and U.S. Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement. All fares, taxes and fees are
in U.S. dollars and are subject to change without notice, and other
restrictions apply. All taxes and fees are based on one-way travel and may be
doubled if traveling round trip. Tickets are nonrefundable but can be changed.
Ticket changes made through an Alaska Airlines reservation call center or
airport ticket counter incur a $100 per person change fee, or a $125 per
person change fee if originally booked through a travel agent and changed
through an Alaska Airlines reservation call center or ticket counter, plus
applicable fees and any difference in fare. Changes made at alaskaair.com
incur a $75 per person change fee, plus applicable fees and any difference in
fare. Tickets must be purchased within 24 hours of making a reservation. A
ticket purchased at an Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air airport location or
reservation call center will cost $15 more per person than the advertised
fare. Some flights are operated in conjunction with Horizon Air. A second
checked bag costs $25 and each additional bag costs $100. Additional fees
apply for overweight or oversized checked bags.
