The Walk Will do us Good
CALGARY, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - AIDS Calgary will be kicking off the 2007 AIDS
Walk for Life at Eau Claire Plaza next week. The goal of the Walk is to raise
funds in support of the education, outreach, prevention and support
initiatives AIDS Calgary offers the community. On September 23rd, 2007, an
estimated 1000 Calgarians - walkers, volunteers, entertainers, sponsors and
staff - unite in an effort to increase awareness of HIV/AIDS and to raise
funds to support AIDS Calgary's education, outreach and prevention programs
along with support for people living with HIV/AIDS.
HIV/AIDS affects us all. There is no cure and no vaccine. We Walk for
those who are no longer with us. We Walk to support those living with and
affected by HIV/AIDS. We Walk to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS in our own
communities. We all have our reasons. We hope that one day we won't need to
Walk any longer. Until then, the Walk will do us good.
Whether you are walking, volunteering, or making a donation, you can make
a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Last year, the 2006 AIDS Walk for
Life Calgary met the target of $80,000 in support of AIDS Calgary with 1,200
walkers, 40 Teams and 100 volunteers showing their support. The event was
successful in bringing Calgarians together to raise awareness of our united
effort to end HIV/AIDS. This year promises to be bigger than ever, with 50's
