Ageus Solutions Brings Cost Savings to Environmental Compliance

Packaged service offerings for RoHS, WEEE, and China RoHS maximize
savings in time, effort and cost

    KANATA, ON, April 11 /CNW Telbec/ - Ageus Solutions
(www.ageussolutions.com) is offering bundled services for China RoHS, WEEE
Treatment Instructions, and Due Diligence Auditing (DDA) for EU RoHS. With
emerging global legislation and more comprehensive procurement standards, such
as the HP and IBM procurement specifications, companies need to efficiently
and cost-effectively meet a range of requirements to sell in the global
marketplace. Ageus Solutions combines the requirements in a single workflow to
enable compliance on EU RoHS, WEEE, and China RoHS to reduce cost, effort, and
time.
"Many of our clients were starting individual projects for each of the
compliance requirements," notes Bruce Calder, president of Ageus Solutions.
"Why not plan the process properly, merge the steps that overlap, and execute
on a more cost- and time-efficient project?"
Ageus Solutions' packaged service includes the creation of material
declaration and Environmental Friendly Use Period (EFUP) numbers for China
RoHS, treatment / dismantling instructions for WEEE, and a combined
XRF/documentation audit for exposing vulnerability to an EU RoHS inspection.

    Typical parallel service bundle includes:

    - China RoHS Table of Toxic and Hazardous Substances & China RoHS EFUP
      (Environmentally Friendly Use Period) number
    - WEEE Treatment / Dismantling instructions
    - EU RoHS physical XRF audit

"There is nothing more uncomfortable than having to let a quality manager
know that months of work collecting and storing compliance information for EU
RoHS have been unraveled by 90 seconds of XRF scanning done to satisfy China
RoHS declaration requirements," explains Mike Fry, manager of China
RoHS/Compliance Auditing at Ageus Solutions. "Due diligence scanning must run
hand-in-hand with all RoHS documentation in order for it to stand up to
enforcement scrutiny."

    Background:

The China RoHS table of toxic and hazardous substances and EFUP are
requirements for electronic information products being imported to or
manufactured in China for sale.
The WEEE treatment instructions are a mandatory documentation requirement
of the WEEE directive (Article 11) and are included in the national
legislation of most EU member states.
The XRF physical audit involves scanning a product with handheld XRF
units to simulate RoHS enforcement inspection in the EU. This technique is
also used by many major global brand owners to ensure compliance in their
supply chain. Failure of XRF inspections has been a principle cause of lost
sales or returned shipment in the industry.
