MONTREAL, June 11 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Benoit Labonté, member of the
executive committee responsible for culture, heritage, downtown and design, is
pleased to support the photo exhibition, "Montréal, UNESCO City of Design",
held by Aéroports de Montréal and presented by Productions de l'oeil. The
exhibition is held at the Montréal - Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport and
features a series of photographs by young Montrealers with "Montréal, UNESCO
City of Design" as a theme. It highlights the work of several local designers,
architects, artisans and fashion designers.
"Montréal was awarded the title of City of Design one year ago, and I am
pleased that Aéroports de Montréal has decided to focus on this honour. A city
of design is above all a city that reflects design innovation on a daily basis
to improve the quality of life of its community. I acknowledge the efforts of
Aéroports de Montréal and its revamped facility that enhances a major gateway
to the city. This exhibition displays the works of our many talented creators
to visitors, contributing to the reputation of Montréal as a city of design,"
said Mr. Labonté.
As a creative city, Montréal builds on design to strengthen the city's
image and identity, improve its attractive force and develop a sense of pride
among residents. "Montréal UNESCO City of Design emphasizes the city's
vitality and creativity, as recognized by UNESCO, as well as local know-how,"
said Mr. Labonté.
The exhibition is held on the departures level and in the international
arrivals area of the Montréal-Trudeau Airport, through 2007. For more
