Advisory - Serge Ménard on his: "Bill to protect journalists' sources"



    TORONTO, Dec. 18 /CNW/ - The Montreal chapter of the Canadian Association
of Journalists will host a discussion with Bloc Québécois MP Serge Ménard,
Thursday, December 20, who will discuss his efforts to amend the Canada
Evidence Act to spare journalists from being forced to disclose the identity
of their sources or to turn over information or documents that would reveal
their identity.

    Bill C-426, introduced by Mr. Ménard, passed second reading in the House
of Commons, Nov. 28. If it passes third reading, it will become the first law
in Canada to protect journalists' sources.
