OTTAWA, June 3 /CNW Telbec/ - International security expert Bruce Jones
will be in Ottawa on June 5 to deliver a lecture at Canada's International
Development Research Centre on managing global security in the era of US
President Barack Obama. A Senior Fellow of the New York University Center on
International Cooperation and Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution,
Jones is a recognized authority on transnational threats and international
cooperation, global peacekeeping, and fragile state engagements.

Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics; and was
Hamburg Fellow in Conflict Prevention at Stanford University. He is author and
co-author of numerous books, book chapters, and journal articles on the Middle
East, Central Africa, post-conflict peacebuilding, and strategic coordination.
His lecture will draw on a recent influential book that he co-wrote with
Carlos Pascual and Steve Stedman, <a href="http://www.brookings.edu/press/Books/2008/powerandresponsibility.aspx">Power and Responsibility: Building
International Order in an Era of Transnational Threats</a>.
