TORONTO, June 26 /CNW/ - Toronto - ACMO held its annual Awards
Recognition Luncheon on June 1, 2007 and the following is a summary of awards
handed out to long-term members of ACMO. President Harold Cipin and Vice
President John Damaren were pleased with the turnout of members to recognize
their peers. A huge applause for 30-year members, brought people to their
feet, as they cheered for those that were there when ACMO was created: Robert
Bainbridge, RCM; Ronald Outram, RCM; and Veronica Warner, RCM.
The Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario was formed in 1977 to
represent the collective aims of all condominium managers. ACMO's Mission is
to enhance the condominium management profession in Ontario by advancing the
quality performance of Condominium property managers and management companies.
25, 20, 10 and 5 year members were also recognized for their continued
commitment to ACMO.
Our "member of the year" awards were voted on by the membership and by
the Awards Nominating Committee. The following are the 2007 recipients.
RCM of the Year
Gayle Sargeant, G3 Property Solutions Inc.
Gayle Sargeant has been an RCM since 1997 and has shown a constant desire
to champion ACMO education and training. Her involvement on the
Certification and Standards Council, the Regional Committee, her
experience as an instructor of ACMO education courses, and her dedication
in championing the creation of the in-house training program offered
through ACMO2000 accredited corporate members, shows the level of passion
and professionalism that benefit both ACMO and the condominium property
Gayle has recently started her our property management company, G3
Property Solutions Inc., and offers management services across Ontario.
Her energy and commitment to ACMO and its principles during the past year
and during her career make her a worthy recipient of the honour of being
this year's RCM of the Year.
Corporate Member of the Year
Brookfield Residential Services Ltd.
In the past year Brookfield Residential Services Ltd. has continued to
show an outstanding level of support for ACMO, its principles and various
ACMO programs. As a Corporate Member in 2006-2007 Brookfield celebrated
the fact that over 70 property managers have attained the RCM
designation, they continue to offer in house education courses and have
supported over 90 students as they seek to further their education in
property management and earn the RCM designation.
Brookfield has worked with other firms in the mentoring program as they
seek to earn their ACMO2000 designation and their support of joint
ACMO/CCI ventures such as the annual Condominium Conference and
involvement on various committees shows why Brookfield has earned the
honour of being this year's Corporate Member of the Year.
Associate Member of the Year
Lisa Kay, Maxium Condo Finance Group
This year's Associate of the Year recipient, Lisa Kay, joined the
Associates Executive Committee three years ago and immediately made an
impact. She began as co-chair of the Social Committee and worked on
organizing the social networking events held throughout the year. This is
the most demanding committee because of all the time & work required to
make these events a success. Last year she took over as chair and has
taken the social activities to a new level for attendance and enjoyment.
Our numbers for the pub nights, boat cruise and golf tournament have
steadily increased, so much so that we have had to go to larger venues to
accommodate the growth. Lisa always brings a smile and a professional
approach to everything she does. Her strong leadership and organizational
skills are demonstrated by the way she can pull resources together and
get the most out of them. She works hard but also has a great sense of
humour and can always share a laugh. Lisa is a valuable asset to ACMO, is
very much respected by her fellow committee members and most of all, is
very deserving of this recognition. Thank you Lisa for your contributions
Jason Tower, Waste Solutions Group
Jason has been an integral part of the Associates Committee for several
years and has been instrumental in the development of ACMO in the areas
outside of the GTA. He has participated in the establishment and success
of the ACMO/CCI London Golf Tournament as well as the ACMO/CCI Conference
in Ottawa. He has co chaired the committee responsible for establishing a
greater ACMO presence throughout the entire province. Jason is a
wonderful ACMO supporter and Association friend. Jason carries the ACMO
banner with pride and he is a very deserving recipient of the President's
Award for 2007.
John Damaren, Malvern Condominium Property Management
John truly epitomizes the consummate Board member. Always ready and
willing to become involved in any project regardless of the size and does
so with complete commitment. He is passionate about the Association and
he has taken on several leadership positions within the Association, most
notably, the Certification and Standards Committee. A true team player,
John clearly understands and upholds the values for which ACMO was
founded and operates under today. A most worthy recipient of the 2007
ACMO membership is open to condominium managers, management companies,
and suppliers to the condominium community. Full details of the association's
services, publications and membership can be found at www.acmo.org.
