- Acision and Colibria Enable MTS to Differentiate its Messaging Service
LONDON, Feb. 2 /CNW/ - Acision today announces that MTS, Russia's largest
mobile operator, is using Acision's Instant Messaging solution to offer an
enhanced messaging experience to its subscribers. Combining the Acision Person
to Person Gateway with core elements from Colibria's award-winning product
portfolio - including the state of the art Instant Messaging and Presence
Service (IMPS) - Acision's Instant Messaging solution provides seamless
integration between mobile instant messaging and SMS.
Mobile messaging continues to grow in popularity in Russia, and through
this relationship, MTS has extended the SMS experience, adding conversational
messaging, as well as the ability to share pictures, voice and video, all
within the same application. Acision's Instant Messaging solution also
integrates seamlessly with MTS' existing SMS services.
Pavel Roytberg, New Products and Services Department Director at MTS
commented, "Self-expression, personalisation, rich media and community
features are increasingly important to our youth customers. More important,
however, is that these are underpinned with the reliability and reach of SMS
and the ability to use just one messaging client even when there is no data
coverage. This proves that full integration with SMS is fundamental to the
success of instant messaging."
Tony Morrish, Vice President and General Manager for Europe, Russia and
Africa at Acision, added, "SMS is the most widely used messaging medium in the
world today - and as such it forms an excellent starting point for any mobile
messaging service. As the world leader in messaging, we have gained valuable
insight into the best ways to ensure ongoing messaging revenue growth."
Keith Gibson, CEO at Colibria said, "By providing our market leading IMPS
product as a core component of Acision's messaging portfolio, we are enabling
operators like MTS to launch a superior, presence-enabled messaging experience
to support the next phase in the evolution of mobile messaging growth."
