A Year of Roland & BOSS Contests begins

    - Four chances to win music gear and bragging rights -

VANCOUVER, May 1 /CNW/ - Calling all drummers, synth composers,
accordionists and loopers! Roland Canada has named 2009 the "Year of Roland
and BOSS Contests" and wants to give aspiring musicians the chance to win
amazing music gear, not to mention bragging rights. With four contests running
this year, every musician can find their "contest niche" and show us what
they've got!
Launching today, Friday, May 1, is the Roland V-Drums Contest and the
Roland Synthesizer Contest.

    Roland V-Drums Contest

The search for Canada's best drummer is on! Drummers from Eastern and
Western Canada will battle to be named one of two Regional Finalists and to
win an all-expenses-paid trip to Montreal Drum Fest this October to compete
for an autographed, top-of-the-line, Roland TD-20K V-Drums kit.
From Friday, May 1st through to Friday, September 18th, 2009, Roland will
be holding V-Drums Contest Audition Days at participating music stores across
Canada. Drum solo auditions will be videotaped and critiqued by a panel of
expert judges who will determine two Regional Finalists.
Check out www.roland.ca/v-drumscontest for contest and Audition Day
details.

    Roland Synthesizer Contest

The Roland Synthesizer Contest returns for a second year and this time
it's all online! Entrants are invited to send Roland a 3-5 minute MP3 file of
their best synth composition by Friday, October 30, 2009. The top ten entries,
as chosen by a panel of judges, will be featured on www.roland.ca/synthcontest
and put to a public vote. The top three publicly-chosen entrants will win
fantastic Roland gear. The grand prize is the world-renowned Roland V-Synth GT
Synthesizer.

Already launched, on April, 15, 2009:

    BOSS Loop Station 2009 Championship

BOSS Loop Stations give players the ability to instantly record and
playback audio in a seamless, repeating loop and to combine several loops into
a wall of layered sound. Loop Stations have inspired a whole new style of
musical performance and Roland Canada is inviting Loop Station users to send a
five minute video of their best Loop Station creation for the chance to win a
$1,000 BOSS product voucher. Contest details at: www.roland.ca/loopstation.

Launching on May 6, 2009, World Accordion Day:

    3rd Roland V-Accordion Festival

After only two years, the Roland V-Accordion Festival has become an
anticipated event and competition in the Canadian accordion community. Roland
Canada is excited to build on this tradition with the 3rd Roland V-Accordion
Festival and is inviting accordion players from across Canada to submit a 2-5
minute video of their best accordion performance for the chance to win one of
three Roland V-Accordions. Visit www.roland.ca/v-accordion for more details.
