SPRINGFIELD, N.J., June 27 /CNW/ -- Leveraging its distinct motor-racing
and watch-making heritage, TAG Heuer is redefining the luxury sports watch
category with the introduction of its Grand Carrera series. A marriage of
sophisticated design and highly advanced movements, the new timepieces are as
comfortable behind the wheel of an Aston Martin D89 GT "dream machine" as they
are at a black-tie affair.

The Grand Carrera collection includes several new models that pay homage
to the original 1964 Carrera design and advances it with a breakthrough
complication called the TAG Heuer Calibre RS movement that marks a new way to
display time. The indicators of this exclusive, GT engine-inspired rotating
system enable wearers to read small seconds, a second time zone or chronograph
time effortlessly, providing them with at-a-glance access to precision timing.
All models host a "Cotes de Geneve" screw and polished beveled edges
complimented by curved, faceted horns on both case sides, a curved, sapphire
crystal with double antireflective treatment and a double sapphire crystal
caseback. The dials feature a hand-applied TAG Heuer logo and curved faceted
markers. Oversized screw-in crowns and push-button clasps complete the
sophisticated look of the pieces which are also water resistant to 100 meters.
The series is certified with the Controle Officiel Suisse des
Chronometres (COSC) Automatic Movement and will be available in late 2007.
"This exciting line takes us to a new level of luxury and prestige," said
Ulrich Wohn, president and CEO of TAG Heuer North America. "The watches are a
perfect expression of the subtle fusion of timeless elegance with the passion
for mechanics and technical innovation - a true combination of sports and
glamour. Grand Carrera embodies TAG Heuer's pioneering spirit and answers the
demand for timepieces that both are beautiful and cutting edge."

The History of the Carrera
The TAG Heuer Carrera was born in 1962 in the pits and paddocks of the
racing circuit. TAG Heuer's honorary chairman, Jack Heuer, served as a
timekeeper at the Twelve Hours of Sebring race where he met two talented
drivers, the Rodriguez brothers. As the brothers regaled Heuer with stories
of the legendary Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race, he was struck by the
name "Carrera," which in his words was "elegant, dynamic, easily pronounced in
all languages and charged with emotion." In 1964, he launched the first
timepiece to carry the Carrera name. Since its launch, the Carrera has become
an iconic and best-selling series for TAG Heuer.
