A New Year and New Ottawa-Montréal Trains



    Additional daily mid-day departure gives travellers more options

    MONTREAL, Jan. 9 /CNW/ - VIA Rail Canada has announced that beginning
Monday, January 14, 2008 it will be adding a new daily mid-day departure
between Montréal and Ottawa in both directions. The new departure will also
provide more convenient connections for customers traveling to/from Québec
City. Travellers will be able to choose from six convenient departures for
their weekday travel. The mid-day departure will make stops at Dorval and
Alexandria, and include a stop on request at Casselman.
    The new mid-day departure will feature VIA's state-of-the-art Renaissance
equipment offering single and double seating throughout the train and a lounge
car for VIA 1 customers. Electric plugs are available at every seat, including
Comfort and VIA 1 class cars. Customers traveling on Renaissance equipment can
also take advantage of the checked baggage service offered on all departures
except - Saturday train 635 and Sunday train 634.
    Until February 28, 2008, VIA Preference members can earn bonus points
when including train 634/635 in their travel plans. For more information visit

    VIA Rail Canada has also announced a number of changes to select services
in Ontario and Quebec that will go into effect Monday, January 14, 2008. These
changes include additional stops and new departure times for a number of
trains in Ontario and Québec.

Passengers also can book their tickets at self-ticketing kiosks in most Québec
City-Windsor Corridor stations, by calling 1 888 VIA-RAIL (1 888 842-7245),
TTY 1 800 268-9503 (hearing impaired), or through their travel agent.
