A new event in the Transportation Industry, Drakkar Human Resources presents the Transportation Safety and Career Expo

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Drakkar Human Resources is
presenting the first edition of the Transportation Safety and Career Expo on
September 22nd, 2007. The event's primary focus is to promote safety and
careers in trucking to the public as well as dispel negative myths about the
trucking industry.
The main reason for the creation of such an event is to address the
severe shortage of employees in transportation, specifically truck drivers,
and to help establish a long lasting work force for this vital Canadian
industry. To insure the success towards such an important objective, Drakkar
has associated itself with many partners to organize the Transportation Safety
and Career Expo, ranging from private trucking companies to the Ontario
Ministry of Transportation. Since the future of the industry depends partially
on attracting the youth of today, the Truck Training Schools Association of
Ontario will be present. In addition, GTA School Boards have been informed to
offer students this unique opportunity to get first hand information on the
transportation industry.
The event is structured so visitors, either currently in the industry or
people wishing to learn about getting into the industry, can receive useful
information about transportation. Safety and career presentations will be held
throughout the day by various industry people including Sgt. Cam Woolley, a
well known member of the Ontario Provincial Police. Also present, will be the
Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council, Humber Transportation Training
Centre, OTA Road Knights Team, and the Toronto Police.
The Transportation Safety and Career Expo will take place at the Woodbine
Centre and Fantasy Fair Parking Lot in Etobicoke, from 9 a.m to 4 p.m., on
Saturday September 22nd. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place
at 10 a.m. with the Assistant Deputy Minister, Road User Safety Division, Sgt.
Cam Woolley and the OTA Road Knights. There is no charge to attend the event.
