A major first in Montreal! PHEV'09: Conference and trade show on electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids

More than 80 conference speakers from Canada, the U.S., Europe
and Asia to take part in the program

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MONTREAL, Sept. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - Cars, energy and the environment -
topics currently of keen interest - will all be on the agenda in Montreal,
September 28-30, as the city hosts PHEV'09, the conference and trade show
devoted to the latest technological breakthroughs in electric vehicles and
plug-in hybrids. The event takes place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (conference)
and Complexe Desjardins (trade show).
Mobility Electric Canada, which is spearheading this international-scale
event, has lined up more than 80 conference speakers, from Canada, the United
States, Europe and Asia to share their knowledge and experiences, thereby
providing an extraordinary learning opportunity about the key technical,
commercial and political issues comprising electric mobility. Electric
mobility includes surface transportation and off-road vehicles using
electric-drive technologies provided by battery or grid connection, hybrid or
fuel cells.
"The success of last year's event clearly showed that electric mobility
is of primordial interest for these specialists from around the globe," stated
president Mike Elwood of Electric Mobility Canada. "The PHEV'09 program has
been developed with the aim of providing a forum for enriching discussions to
expand on the issues pertaining to these new technologies on which we base
considerable hope for the future."
The diverse program includes a series of workshops and conferences
dealing with many topical and thought-provoking subjects. These include:
standards, regulations and safety in the electric vehicle market, now and in
the foreseeable future; the various initiatives to promote and support
electric vehicles; the performance of transportation alternatives in the
context of climate change; the transitioning of the workers to an
electric-vehicle society, along with an overview of current research and
development activities across Canada.
Along with this there will be a panel discussion during which senior
representatives of OEM's currently selling light and heavy duty vehicles in
Canada will be invited to share their views on the Canadian market and
describe the electric drive vehicle choices they will make available to
Canadians over the next five years.
A more comprehensive overview of the program can be found at the end of
the press release.

PHEV'09 trade show: a showcase of innovations and know-how in the
    electric vehicle industry

In tandem with the conference, the trade show features exhibitors and the
presentation of various types of electric-drive vehicles, components, and
systems and software programs that support these vehicles.
The array of exhibitors includes: governments, vehicle manufacturers,
suppliers of components, parts and professional services related to the
electric vehicle industry, provincial and municipal public services, fleet
managers and other end users, research organizations and academic
institutions. Accelerated System - CrossChasm - Government of Canada -
Government of Québec - Hydro-Québec - ISAAC Instruments - Ontario Ministry of
Economic Development and Trade - NRC Automative - Phostech Lithium - Services
Precicad - TM4 - Toronto Electric are among the exhibitors.
The following partners have contributed to the realization of PHEV'09:
Government of Canada - Government of Québec - Hydro-Québec - BC Hydro -
Manitoba Hydro - Nissan Canada and the University of Manitoba.

Third annual Energy Efficient Vehicle Rally

In conjunction with PHEV'09, there will be the running of the only
official alternative energy World Cup rally in North America, the winners of
which will be announced at the reception at the Hyatt Regency on the evening
of September 29. For further details: www.rallye-alternative.com.
