TORONTO and VANCOUVER, Jan. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - The Turnaround Management
Association (TMA) has announced that William (Bill) Skelly will serve as its
Chairman for 2008. Skelly is the first Canadian to serve as TMA Chairman and
last year was the first non-American to hold the position of TMA President.
With 8,000-plus members, the TMA is the premier professional association
dedicated to corporate renewal and turnaround management.
"This is the 20th anniversary of the TMA, so I'm doubly honoured to Chair
the Board this year," says Skelly. "During my travels last year as President,
I saw that there are more similarities than differences in the issues
restructuring professionals face worldwide. The TMA is becoming really popular
in countries that are just developing their insolvency laws."
A partner in Heenan Blaikie's Vancouver office, Skelly practices in the
corporate and commercial field with a focus on insolvency law, corporate and
commercial lending and real estate. He is widely recognized for his expertise
in the restructuring of national and international companies.
"Taking on leadership roles with organizations like the TMA is key to our
business strategy," says Norm Bacal, Co-managing Partner of Heenan Blaikie.
"The TMA will be integral to the coming turn of the business cycle - we want
to be on the leading edge."
Heenan Blaikie is one of Canada's top national law firms with more than
425 lawyers in nine offices in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec.

broad sectors: business law, tax, labour and employment, litigation,

TMA is the only international non-profit association dedicated to
corporate renewal and turnaround management. With international headquarters
in Chicago, TMA's 8,000 members in 43 regional chapters worldwide comprise a
professional community of turnaround practitioners, attorneys, accountants,
investors, lenders, venture capitalists, appraisers, liquidators, executive
recruiters and consultants.
