8th Montréal Wine and Spirits Show in full swing through to March 30th - 2000 products including 1000 exclusive to the event - 230 vintners and distillers from 30 producing nations



    MONTREAL, March 27 /CNW Telbec/ - The 8th Montréal Wine and Spirits Show,
an event of equal appeal to connoisseurs and novices, is in full swing through
to March 30th at Palais des congrès de Montréal.
    Organized every two years by Association québécoise des agences de vins,
bières et spiritueux (AQAVBS) in cooperation with principal partner Société
des alcools du Québec (SAQ), this year's Show is pleased to welcome
230 producers, vintners, distillers and brewers from 30 countries who are
featuring some 2000 products, including 1000 exclusive to the event. Also on
offer is an extensive selection of tasting and storage accessories, as well as
assorted gourmet fare.

    Sommelier Elyse Lambert, Ambassador of 8th edition

    Elyse Lambert, sommelier of XO renown, the restaurant at Montréal's Hôtel
Le St-James, is Ambassador of the 8th Montréal Wine and Spirits Show. This
exceptional individual and decorated sommelier, ranked 1st in Québec in 2004
and 3rd in Canada in 2006, is delighted to share her passion for wine and
spirits with the general public. "The Montréal Wine and Spirits Show is an
outstanding opportunity to strike out in search of adventure... no suitcase or
airline ticket needed! Indulge in a world wine tour, taste and discover
one-of-a-kind products, stock up on some great wine finds, and, of course,
take advantage of an exceptional occasion to meet with vintners and producers
from across the globe," states Elyse Lambert.
    Visitors to the Show enjoy a singular glimpse into the fascinating world
of wines and spirits, not to mention the opportunity to meet and converse with
onsite professionals and attend any of the hundred or so free conferences
organized by producers. Visitors can also taste-test and purchase wines and
spirits from around the world, including a vast selection of specialty
products and private imports.

    Show specifics

    Admission, restricted to persons 18 years of age and over, is $15 and
includes an Expert Tasting wine tasting glass and official Show guide. A
passport entitling holders to unlimited access to the Show during the entire
4-day event is also available for $40. The cost of taste-testing varies in

    Founded in 1969, Association québécoise des agences de vins, bières et
