Dessau looks to the future with a growth-focused business plan and
projected annual revenue of $500 million within two years
LAVAL, QC, Sept. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Engineering firm Dessau announced
today that it is starting its second 50 years with a new company name and a
bold business plan that will generate further growth and increase annual sales
from the current $350 million to $500 million over the next two years.
Dessau's top management invited all its employees and clients to a major
gathering yesterday and today to unveil its new name, offer them a book on the
company's history and announce its growth plan. Today, Dessau-Soprin
officially becomes Dessau.
"Dessau is the second-largest engineering firm in Québec, fifth-largest
in Canada and ranks among the top 100 in the world. We will remain focused on
steady growth," said Jean-Pierre Sauriol, Dessau's President and CEO.
Mr. Sauriol noted that the Laval-based engineering firm has made 15
acquisitions in recent years and plans to make more in the coming months.
Dessau has handled thousands of projects since it was founded 50 years ago.
50 years of history
Dessau's first 50 years were marked by a number of events. From the
immense worksite in James Bay in the 1970's to the smooth transition in
leadership in 1992 when founder Paul-Aimé Sauriol transferred management of
the company to his son Jean-Pierre, to the merger with Soprin in 1998 that
gave the firm new momentum, to the opening of offices in other parts of the
world and execution of major construction projects, Dessau is a Quebec-based
company that became international. And it did so by financing its own growth
and acquisitions and retaining its financial independence. The firm's capital
is now held by 178 employees, managers and officers.
Sustained growth and excellence
CEO Sauriol said that over the next few years the firm will grow mainly
in Canada, and on the international scene in North Africa, South and Central
America and in the Caribbean. The firm also plans to consolidate its presence
in Quebec and further develop its construction and operating divisions.
Dessau is proud of its outstanding employee satisfaction rate of 94%. "We

responsibility," said Jean-Pierre Sauriol, adding that Dessau has received
more than 60 excellence awards since it was founded. "Credit for this
