43,000 Football Fans Vote Etienne Boulay Gibson's Finest Canadian Player

    ALOUETTE'S STAR SCOOPS ROLE-MODEL AWARD

TORONTO, Nov. 24 /CNW/ - Today, the Canadian Football League (CFL) and
Gibson's Finest Canadian Whisky announced Etienne Boulay winner of the 2007
Gibson's Finest Canadian Player Award during Grey Cup festivities.
Hall-of-famer and CFL legend Terry Evanshen presented the award to Boulay,
along with a $10,000 donation from Gibson's for his charity of choice -
Foundation Québécoise du Cancer.
Fans nationwide voted the Montreal Alouettes' defensive safety as their
choice for finest player, via a CFL online poll. Rated for his athletic skill,
sportsmanship, community involvement, and dedication to the game, Boulay
comments, "This is a great honour and I am very humbled by it. Football is
about much more than the game itself, and this means even more to me because
it came from the fans. I am thrilled to have the chance to donate $10,000 to
the Fondation québécoise du cancer. People close to me have been affected by
cancer before, and this is my chance to help out an important cause that
affects us all."
Motivational speaker and Grey Cup champion Evanshen adds, "My experience
has taught me that of all the obstacles that people, athletes or otherwise,
face in life, the greatest ones are those in one's own mind. That's why I'm
pleased to see that Canadian fans voted for a player who has succeeded in
balancing the demands of their professional sporting career with the needs of
the community they come from and the fans that keep them on top."
"Etienne Boulay embodies the genuine qualities of what the Gibson's
Finest Canadian Player Award represents," said Ken Kuzmich, business
development manager, William Grant & Sons. "Players were evaluated by more
than just the usual passing and rushing statistics. We're pleased to see
Boulay win with not only an outstanding performance record on the field, but
also a keen interest in community involvement that has an impact long after
the game is over."
