2008 Montréal International Auto Show: A satisfaction rating that says it all!



    MONTREAL, Jan. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - The 40th Edition of the Montreal
International Auto Show (MIAS) has officially closed its doors after welcoming
204,943 visitors over a 10-day period, between January 18 and 27, 2008.
According to preliminary results from a survey conducted by Léger Marketing,
93 % of visitors reported they were satisfied with their experience at this
year's event and 75 % said they would gladly attend again next year. All in
all, a truly memorable 40th anniversary!
    As far as the special attractions were concerned, the Show's 7th Heaven
was once again a resounding success, fuelling the dreams of visitors with its
heavenly collection of exotic automobiles, worth a grand total of $10.3
million. The 100 % British exhibit - another crowd favorite - brought a touch
of British flair to the event. As 2008 MIAS President Marc Bourassa explained,
"All our special attractions were quite significant this year. Our Still
Hot...40 Years Later exhibit provided us with a remarkably original way of
celebrating our 40th anniversary. As well, we've shown real vision some four
years ago when we introduced our On Route to a Greener Future segment and its
Green Zone section. Over the years, this attraction, organized in
collaboration with Natural Resources Canada, has proven itself to be also an
absolute must-see exhibit. This year, we are also thrilled to have had the
privilege of hosting the Tesla Roadster, a sterling example of the great
advances in modern automotive engineering."
    In addition, during the Press day held on January 17, CAA and CAA-Québec
presented certain manufacturers with the 2008 Pyramid Award for Environmental
Initiatives.
    As for this year's annual Blood donor clinic, the numbers speak for
themselves. 1,045 generous souls have stopped by to give their precious gift
of life. The Auto Show is extremely proud of its association with Héma-Québec
and would like to extend its deepest thanks to everyone who took the time to
contribute to the phenomenal success of this year's blood drive.
    Also, in keeping with its previous editions, the 2008 MIAS Charity
Preview, whose spokesperson this year was comedian Raymond Bouchard, was once
again a tremendous success! Over 3,100 guests attended this special evening,
which took place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The event helped
organizers raise $417,500 to benefit five worthy causes within the Greater
Montreal's medical community: the Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation,
the Sir Mortimer B. Davis - Jewish General Hospital Foundation (JGHF), the
Pierre-Boucher Hospital Foundation, the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de
Montréal Foundation (CHUM) and the McGill University Health Centre Foundation
(MUHC). Since it premiered back in January of 2005, the event has managed to
raise over $1.1 million for various foundations of the Greater Montreal's
health care community; an achievement of which the automotive industry is
extremely proud!
    The Montréal International Auto Show, organized by the Montreal
