2008 key tag mailing marks War Amps milestones

ONTARIO, March 18 /CNW Telbec/ - As The War Amps 2008 key tags go out
this week to Ontario residents, they will include a letter written by War Amps
CEO Cliff Chadderton that touches on some of the Association's milestones.
"While writing, I thought of the many inspirational stories involving our
CHAMP youngsters," Mr. Chadderton says. "My attention was drawn to one of our
public service messages on TV about Meaghan, a young quadruple amputee, in
which her mother, in telling how The War Amps and children like Meaghan come
together, says she isn't worried about Meaghan's future, because The War Amps
will always be there." More can be seen about Meaghan on The War Amps Web site
at www.waramps.ca.
Mr. Chadderton also touches on several War Amps milestones: 1918, when it
was formed after World War I with the philosophy of "amputees helping
amputees"; 1945, when First World War amputees showed new war amputees like
himself that "it's what's left that counts"; and 2005, the 30th anniversary of
the Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, which continues to innovate with a
WEBMASTERS program that provides computer training to guarantee a solid
employment future for multiple amputee children.
"In 2008, the operative word is Legacy, meaning that, in the future, the
work of The War Amps will go on under the direction of CHAMP Graduates. It was
our war, it is their legacy," Mr. Chadderton says.
Key tags protect more than just car keys! Since 1946, The War Amps has
returned more than one million sets of keys, and the service is more important
than ever with the extremely high replacement cost of electronic door openers
and anti-theft devices. Each key tag has a confidentially-coded number. Should
the keys be lost, the finder need only call the toll-free number on the back
of the tag and the keys will be returned to the owner by bonded courier.

The War Amps receives no government grants and is funded solely by public
support of the Key Tag and Address Label Service. For more information, or to
order key tags, use E-ZEE ACCESS: call toll-free 1 800 250-3030, fax toll-free
