2007 edition of SIAL Montreal a huge success!



    MONTREAL, April 10 /CNW Telbec/ - The fourth edition of SIAL Montreal,
the International Food, Beverage, Wine and Spirits Exhibition, is well on its
way to another resounding success according to a survey(1) conducted on
Wednesday, March 28 and Thursday, March 29, 2007, the first two days of the
show. Initial reports also point to the growing international appeal of SIAL
Montreal. This good news provides compelling evidence that SIAL Montreal is
now one of the most eagerly anticipated North American events for food
professionals.
    SIAL Montreal welcomes a myriad of visitors from the four corners of the
world. At the fourth edition, visitors from 81 countries took in the displays
in the 200,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall at Palais des congrès. The number of
foreign visitors was up 30% compared to last year's edition, a trend clearly
reflected in the number of American visitors, which rose by 64%.
    The survey also confirmed the success of this edition. "I am extremely
delighted that 97% of people surveyed were very or fairly satisfied with their
visit to SIAL Montreal 2007", commented SIAL Montreal executive director
Mathieu Herrou. "Our main goal is to establish a business relationship between
visitors and exhibitors. I think we're doing a bang-up job when the survey
says 89% of people polled were very or fairly satisfied with the contacts they
made at SIAL Montreal 2007!" he added.
    The SIAL Montreal team offered two new venues for the fourth edition,
both of which were a huge hit. More than half of show attendees visited
Crossroads - Innovation 2007, an area that showcased the exhibition's most
innovative products. Of these, 87% said they were very or fairly satisfied
with their visit. The area reserved for the 115 producers taking part in Olive
d'Or, the biggest olive oil competition in the world, obtained the same rate
of satisfaction and attracted over one-third of all visitors!

    Agora Nutrition: a meeting place that met with success

    SIAL Montreal is much more than just a gathering of exhibitors-it's a
place of learning. For the first time ever, it presented Agora Nutrition, a
new theme area for activities and conferences. The new section's purpose was
to meet the consumer need for quality food products that both taste good and
are good for health. The idea was a hit, with 44% of visitors either coming to
check things out or attending conferences! The content of the conferences,
round table discussions, and other initiatives by nutrition professionals
present whetted the appetite of 92% of visitors, who said they were very or
fairly satisfied with their visit.
    Mathieu Herrou asserts that the success of SIAL Montreal is due to its
fun atmosphere and the ability of its organizers to spur business meetings and
propose relevant, quality activities. "Our team works hard to satisfy visitors
and exhibitors. The satisfaction rate is measured by the number of visitors
who attend the exhibition from year to year. The poll revealed that 60% of
visitors this year came to the exhibition for the first time. Although 20%
didn't know whether they would come back next year, 72% said they definitely
would-which is the best reward we could ask for!"
