MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 27 /CNW/ - Tens of thousands of special guests and
delegates from across Canada and around the world will be attending the 32nd
Annual Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Canada from June 27th
to 29th at the International Center in Mississauga (Derry and Airport Road).
This Annual Conference is particularly significant as it is occurring during
the 100th anniversary year of the establishment of the institution of Khilafat
(Succession) in the Community, as well as its re-establishment in the Muslim
world-at-large, and will be graced by the presence of the current Khalifa of
the Community, His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Khalifatul
Masih V (may Allah strengthen his hands).
Over the course of the three-day conference, His Holiness will deliver
three addresses, namely, his sermon for the Friday prayer service and a
keynote address on both June 28th and June 29th. In addition to these
addresses, eleven lectures will be delivered by various religious scholars who
will expand on the concept and history of Khilafat with particular reliance on
and reference to the Holy Qur'an (Islam's holy scripture), the traditions of
the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the
teachings of the Founder of the Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad
The Right Honourable Prime Minister of Canada is one of the hundreds of
dignitaries who is expected to attend, as will other representatives of all
level of government, diplomats, academics, professions and various ethnic and
faith groups, over the course of the event.
"Every member of the Community is looking forward to this once in a
life-time event. Thousands of dedicated volunteers have worked countless hours
to ensure all 20,000 delegates have hot meals each day and have arranged
appropriate facilities for a commemorative Convention," said Lal Khan Malik,
President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Canada.
"Emotions are very high, as the head of the Community is amongst us. We
are very fortunate that Canada is one of the select countries, which His
Holiness has graciously agreed to visit in the centenary year," he added.
Each year, the primary purpose of the annual convention of Canada's
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is to provide participants with an opportunity to
broaden and deepen their understanding of it and the religion of Islam. The
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is committed to contributing to the multicultural
mosaic by helping to achieve a better Canada and by encouraging both Muslim
and non-Muslim Canadians to come together and live according to their motto
"Love for all, Hatred for none."
The convention is open to general public and admission is free. Program
begins at 5 pm on June 27 and 10:30 am on Saturday & Sunday.
