14 year old Country Day School student captures record in Lake Erie swim

KING, ON, July 12 /CNW/ - Neither seaweed, nor cool lake temperatures,
nor tired limbs could stop 14 year old, Country Day School student, Jade
Scognamillo from capturing the record as the youngest and fastest swimmer to
cross Lake Erie. Setting out from Sturgeon Point, New York at am, she
completed the 19.2 km swim to Crystal Beach, Ontario in a record 5 hours, 40
minutes and 35 seconds. Under the direction of Solo Swims Canada, Jade made
the open-water crossing in support of the Hospital for Sick Children's
Neonatal Unit.
What's next for the Caledon, Ontario resident? With four Great Lakes left
on the map, we'll just have to wait and see. The Country Day School is an
independent, not-for-profit institution that proudly supports and
congratulates the athletic achievements of all its students and alumni
members.
