$1,000 a Week For Life or $675,000? First PAYDAY Winner Makes His Choice

    Luck Lands in Winnipeg Again!

WINNIPEG, April 17 /CNW/ - PAYDAY is a new regional lottery game
introduced two weeks ago on the Prairies and Territories and drawn every
Thursday. For only $2, players choose four numbers from 1 to 77 and then
receive 14 additional four-number Selections free on their ticket. Top Prize
winners have a unique decision to make: they can either receive $1,000 A Week
for Life, or they can take an immediate one-time payment of $675,000.
The first person to face that unique choice is Stan Kuldys of Winnipeg.
Stan admits that he has been a big fan of PAYDAY from the start. "I like the
four different prize categories on a ticket ($1,000 A Week for Life, $50,000,
$20,000 and $1,000), and I also like getting the 14 additional Selections
free," smiled the shipper/receiver for a feed company. "Lately, whenever I
stop at a store I ask for a $2 PAYDAY ticket."
Stan accumulated between eight and ten $2 tickets for the Thursday,
April 12th PAYDAY draw, and his enthusiasm for the new product paid off 'in
spades'. One of the tickets, purchased at Amy Ping Food Market & Deli,
71 St. Anne's Road, matched the four winning PAYDAY numbers of 1, 2, 35 and 61
in the Top Prize category. He discovered his good fortune by calling the
Winning Numbers Line the night of the draw.
"$1,000 A Week for Life is a nice option," admitted the 52-year-old
married father-of- two. "But being a little older, the one-time payment of
$675,000 is the right choice for me."
Stan has a number of plans for his sudden windfall. He'll soon be
replacing his 2001 Malibu with a 2008 Impala. He'll also be buying baseball
uniforms for a local team, the Kildonan Mud Cats, and hockey uniforms for the
Berens River Bullets (his mother was originally from Berens River). And, last
but not least, he'll be buying tombstones for each of his deceased parents.
This is the eighth significant lottery prize won by a Manitoba lottery
player in the past three months. The next PAYDAY game draw occurs this
Thursday shortly after 8:00 p.m.

Revenue generated from Manitoba Lotteries gaming products and services
have a direct and positive impact on Manitobans with net revenue allocated
towards government programs in health care, education, social and community
services and economic development.
