MONTREAL, Aug. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - The Fabrique de Notre-Dame de Montréal
hopes that the CSN will not stick to its intransigent position by maintaining
its unrealistic demands.
"We have presented an improved and very generous overall offer that
addresses points that are currently under dispute. The union has the right not
to be satisfied by our last offer, but it should not come back to us with the
same demands it has made for the last 17 months otherwise the conflict will
continue," said Guy Dufort, management negotiator in this dispute.
La Fabrique intends to continue making every effort in conciliation
sessions over the next week to quickly reach the desired settlement, and
encourages the union to do the same.
Furthermore, la Fabrique renews its offer to cease the lockout if the CSN
decides to end the strike to allow for the resumption of burials. It is a
question of respecting the families who have already suffered greatly because
of this persistent conflict.
