Salon sur les meilleures pratiques d'affaires 2011 - A Quebec concept that is gaining popularity from here to India!

MONTREAL, Nov. 10, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Today sees the opening of the Montreal Salon sur les meilleures pratiques d'affaires (MPA) organized by the Mouvement québécois de la qualité. This major event brings together over 2,500 economic players from both SMEs and large companies who, by sharing expertise acquired during the Salon, participate actively in the economic vitality of Quebec. Ever more popular, the Salon MPA is the perfect opportunity to showcase our companies' performance on the national stage.

The Salon MPA is unique in Quebec. It is all about sharing experience and transferring knowledge. This important convention has gained acclaim both in Quebec and abroad and the increasing popularity of the Salon attests to the quality of its program and the dynamism and commitment of the entrepreneurs exhibiting projects. "In two years, the show has seen a 15% increase in attendance, despite the recent economic downturn. It is clear that what we are offering convention visitors adds value to any companies wishing to improve procedures and overall performance. Since many companies have striven to put into practice expertise acquired during the Salon, it is obvious that this event makes a direct contribution to Quebec's economic resilience in difficult times," said Johanne Maletto, Director General of the Mouvement québécois de la qualité.

A Quebec concept exported to India

Twice each year for the last three years, the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council of India has been inspired to copy Quebec's concept of the Salon MPA in its Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing program, which is a meeting point for many Indian manufacturers to share expertise in terms of quality procedures and performance. "For us, the fact that India is staging an event that put down its roots here in Quebec is a clear indicator of its relevance and necessity for the business community and a sure sign of its success, especially when the concept is adopted by one of the world's largest emerging economies," says Ms. Maletto.

Improved procedures and performance come from the employees!

The CREATIVITY AREA and LEAN CASINO are an important part of the Salon and enable organizations to discover simple and practical procedures for implementing employees' ideas and discovering the power of Lean tools, while having fun. Around 40 continuous improvement and innovation projects will be presented by teams from 38 companies. "For many people, the concepts of innovation and competitiveness can be vague and difficult to implement. But with a theme focused on employee creativity, we give visitors an opportunity to meet Quebec businessmen and businesswomen who contribute daily to our economic growth through the investment they make in improving procedures in their companies," states Ms. Maletto.

Rich and varied program

This year once again, the Salon MPA will offer a rich and varied program with meetings and presentations by major economic players. Participants in the Leadership Forum include Jean Bédard, President and CEO, Groupe Sportscène; Martin Gauthier, Senior Partner, Sid Lee; Manon Pépin, Vice President, Public Affairs and Marketing, Héma-Québec; Doug Purdy, Vice President, Quality, Pratt & Whitney Canada; and Philippe Simonato, Plant Manager, GE Aviation-Bromont. They will discuss the setbacks they encountered and how they overcame them to ensure the success of their organizations.

In addition, convention visitors will attend a presentation by Dr. Joseph De Feo, President of the Juran Institute. He challenges them to make a Roadmap for Breakthrough Change focusing all strategies on improving competitiveness.
