IIROC Announces Disciplinary Hearing for Jamie Seong Il Park

TORONTO, Sept. 2 /CNW/ - A hearing has been scheduled before a Hearing Panel of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) to hear evidence and submissions in the matter of Jamie Seong Il Park.

The hearing concerns allegations that Mr. Park refused and/or failed to attend an interview and give information as part of an IIROC investigation into his conduct, contrary to IIROC Rule 19.5.

Hearing Date:           10:00 am, October 1, 2010
Location:
Legal Transcript Services
390 Bay Street, Suite 1102, Toronto

The hearing is open to the public, unless the panel orders otherwise. The Notice Of Hearing is available on IIROC's website. The panel's decision and reasons will be made public at www.iiroc.ca when available.

IIROC began its investigation in April 2009 after receiving a notice of termination from TD Waterhouse Canada Inc., an IIROC-regulated firm, saying TDW had terminated Mr. Park's employment in January of the same year following an internal investigation regarding a number of irregular client statements. At TDW Mr. Park had been a Registered Representative. He is no longer registered in any capacity with an IIROC-regulated firm.

IIROC is the national self-regulatory organization which oversees all investment dealers and trading activity on debt and equity marketplaces in Canada. Created in 2008 through the consolidation of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada and Market Regulation Services Inc., IIROC sets high quality regulatory and investment industry standards, protects investors and strengthens market integrity while maintaining efficient and competitive capital markets.

IIROC carries out its regulatory responsibilities through setting and enforcing rules regarding the proficiency, business and financial conduct of dealer firms and their registered employees and through setting and enforcing market integrity rules regarding trading activity on Canadian equity marketplaces.
