Award-winning Be Smart. Be Safe. Tour rolls into London with safety messages and donations to local children's charities

LONDON, ON, July 17 /CNW/ - The Honourable Chris Bentley, MPP London
West, and Attorney General of Ontario, joined Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC)
this morning in supporting two local children's organizations while kicking
off an award-winning community outreach program. IBC's Be Smart. Be Safe. Tour
made a stop at the London Regional Children's Museum where Nikki Holland,
Manager, Government Relations for IBC, presented two $2,500 cheques - the
first to Tammy Adkin, Executive Director, London Regional Children's Museum;
and the second to Kelly Balderson, Chair, and Betty Spearman, Vice Chair,
London Block Parent Program.
"Be Smart. Be Safe. is a community outreach program dedicated to showing
Canadians what they can do to prevent injuries in the home, on the road and at
play," said Ms. Holland, who noted that Canada's home, car and business
insurers have a long history of working with governments and safety
organizations to make our communities safer. "We at IBC believe it's important
to support local safety organizations that deliver valuable programs in the
community year-round, and we are delighted to present cheques for $2,500 to
both the London Regional Children's Museum and London Block Parent Program,"
she added.
"These generous donations will support both groups in their continuing
efforts to raise public awareness about safety issues that affect those most
precious to us all - our children," said Bentley. "I am delighted that IBC is
supporting two organizations that are making a valuable contribution to this
community," he added.

Insurance Bureau of Canada is the national industry association
representing Canada's private home, car and business insurers. Its member
companies represent nearly 95% of the property and casualty (P&C) insurance
market in Canada. The P&C industry employs over 110,000 Canadians, pays more
than $6 billion in taxes to the federal, provincial and municipal governments,
and has a total premium base of $38 billion.
