WAWA, ON, Jan. 29 /CNW/ -WHAT: Residents concerned about plans to create a quarry on the
shores of Lake Superior are appealing it to the Ontario
Municipal Board (OMB). An important pre-hearing set for Friday,
January 30, 2009 will decide the final list of issues to be
addressed at the hearing itself.
The proposed quarry will impact the longest section of
wilderness shoreline on any of the Great Lakes. The section of
Lake Superior shoreline is home to five Peregrine Falcon
nesting sites and two small herds of Caribou.
