25 in 5 Network for Poverty Reduction to Release Accountability Report

Evaluating Year One of Ontario's Poverty Reduction Strategy

TORONTO, Dec. 1 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, December 2nd the 25 in 5 Network for Poverty Reduction will release a report entitled Making Good on the Promise: Evaluating Year One of Ontario's Poverty Reduction Strategy.

This report outlines in detail the commitments made by the Ontario government in Breaking the Cycle: Ontario's Poverty Reduction Cycle, released on December 4, 2008.

It evaluates the progress Ontario has made over the past year in meeting these commitments and the degree to which Ontario has met 25 in 5's Five Tests for a Successful Poverty Reduction Strategy, issued in the fall of 2008.

The report also proposes the next steps that government must take in order to meet its target of reducing child and family poverty by 25% by 2013.
