Media availability for more than 250 Olympians arriving in Montreal,
Toronto and Vancouver TodayTORONTO, Aug. 25 /CNW/ - The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) reminds all
media that more than 250 Olympians from the 2008 Beijing Games will arrive
home in Canada today, August 25. The athletes will be made available for
interviews and photo opportunities at three major airports in Montreal,
Toronto and Vancouver.
The Canadian Olympic Team earned a total of 18 medals, surpassing its
totals from Athens in 2004 (12) and Sydney in 2000 (14). Canada's 332 athletes
collected three gold, nine silver and six bronze medals. In all, Canada
finished 15th overall, successfully reaching the COC's pre-Olympic goal of the
top 16 countries.
The list of arrival times and athletes, as well as locations within the
airport, is listed below. As of 11 a.m. this morning the flights are on time,
though media should monitor this for any potential delays. Please note that
medallists Karine Sergerie, Emilie Heymans and Thomas Hall (and all other
athletes headed to Montreal) will first arrive in Toronto before transferring.
Those on the 9:13 p.m. flight will arrive in Toronto at 6:40 p.m. and those on
the 11:42 p.m. flight will arrive in Toronto at 7:50 p.m. Depending on time,
they may be available for interviews in Toronto.
Also of note, diving silver medallist Alexandre Despatie will be stopping
over in Toronto this evening. He will be made available upon landing in
Toronto, and then again upon his arrival in Montreal on Aug. 26 at 4:13 p.m.
