VANCOUVER, April 8 /CNW/ - 30 Days of Sustainability ("30 Days"), which
saw over 100 000 B.C. participants in 2007, inspires B.C.'s individuals,
businesses and organizations to take "the next step" in sustainability by
creating their own event to add to 30 Days' positive, fresh and sexy
"umbrella" of over 20 existing events. Download the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Get
Into Action guide and poster on the 30 Days website (coming soon).
"We've passed the 'tipping point' and we've all seen the "10 ways to
green your life" tip sheets," says Sonny Wong, founding member and Chair of
the 30 Days of Sustainability Society. "Now, a funny thing is happening:
people almost have too many choices and they're getting overwhelmed - who has
time to wade through over 30 (carbon) offset organizations? This year, when
creating their own event, 30 Days asks its umbrella of partners to think about
'the next step' - one that is easy and enjoyable."
30 Days invites B.C. organizations, businesses and residents to create
their own event between April 22 and May 21 and take opportunity of 30 Days'
event promotion channels. 30 Days' growing list of sponsors include Coast
Capital Savings, Rio Tinto Alcan, CTV, The Tyee, Happy Frog, VanNet, Granville
Magazine and Offsetters Climate Neutral Society.
"This is a transitional year for 30 Days," says Tom Osdoba, founding
member and Chair of 30 Days. "There is a lot more awareness of the need to
take action...We are not trying to replace anything. Rather, we want to
continue shining a spotlight on things, continue to be innovative and to
enhance what is already happening."
