QUEBEC CITY, Feb. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - CO2 Solution is proud to announce
that it has been granted a European patent for the application of its
technology in the production of Portland cement.
The new patent, entitled "A process and a plant for the production of
Portland cement clinker," protects the process by which CO2 emissions from
cement factories can be captured and converted into bicarbonate ions. These
ions are then used to generate limestone, a raw material that can be
reintroduced into the cement manufacturing process.
With their annual CO2 emissions reaching some 938 million tonnes
globally, cement factories are among the industries targeted (after thermal
power plants) for the application of CO2 Solution technology.
To date, CO2 Solution has been granted 12 patents in various countries
and regions, including Canada, the United States and Europe, and it also has
21 patents pending. These patents and patent applications deal with various
fields of innovation, including enzymes and enzyme attachment, as well as the
technology's processes, equipment and sectors of application.
