TORONTO, Oct. 6 /CNW/ - Indian National Overseas Congress (Canada) is
deeply grieved and profoundly disturbed at the unabated violence against
Christians in Orissa. "Because the BJD-BJP Government in Orissa has proved to
be incompetent due to its failure in the restoration of law & order, we demand
that the Central Government must step in, invoke article 365, and impose
President's Rule," INOC (Canada) President Jay Banerjei said in a statement.
Banerjei said, "Violence in BJP led states has proved BJP to be a
militant organization and thus should be banned". Banerjei added, "BJP's own
version of Hinduism called Hindutva, does not follow Hinduism's basic tenet of
Ahimsa (non-violence) and more than 95% of Hindus do not identify with either
Hindutva or the saffron group". Banerjei sent a strong message to other BJP
led states by warning that "vote bank politics by inciting hatred amongst
communities can result in only President's Rule and nothing else".
Banerjei adds that NRIs all over the world join in condemning BJP's
alleged perpetration of "such gross and unbelievable atrocities, such naked
violations of human rights, and such grotesque brutality".
