TORONTO, Nov. 12 /CNW/ - Kaboose Inc. (TSX: KAB), one of the largest
family-focused new media companies in the world, today announced its Amazing
Toy Award Winners for 2008. With holidays on the horizon, Kaboose revealed the
top toys that families will want this season. BabyZone.com, Kaboose's premiere
site focusing on pregnancy and parenting, will feature "Amazing Toys" for
babies and toddlers, while Kaboose.com will showcase the best for
preschoolers, gradeschoolers and 'tweens and teens.
For the last eight years, editors at BabyZone have worked with toy
manufacturers to have real families test their latest toy offerings, with the
goal of identifying the best toys based on a number of key criteria. Since
2000, more than 250 toys have received an Amazing Toy award. This year, as a
result of the tremendous response from our BabyZone audience, the Amazing Toy
Awards have been expanded to Kaboose.com.
Each spring, expert toy wranglers invite more than 100 manufacturers to
submit their newest and coolest baby and toddler products of the year. Those
submissions are passed to a panel of test moms and their kids, based on age
recommendation. The toys are tested for a period of several weeks in ways only
kids can test a toy. Toys are ranked based on uniqueness, skill development,
long-term usability and, of course, fun. In addition, since 2007, each Amazing
Toy Award Winner also features a statement from its manufacturer, verifying
that it has undergone rigorous age-appropriate safety testing. Only the toys
that received the highest tester remarks are awarded "Amazing Toy" status.
"There are just so many new products out there for families and parents
deserve to know which ones are really worth bringing home to their children,"
said Alexandra Aleskovsky, General Manager and Senior Vice-President of Online
Properties at Kaboose. "The Amazing Toy Awards" cut through the hype for moms,
dads and their kids and make shopping for age-appropriate, super fun, safe
toys so much easier."
