Minister of Tourism Reappoints Bill Duron as Chair of Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation


    TORONTO, Oct. 24 /CNW/ - Bill Duron, an experienced tourism leader and
media executive, has been reappointed for a second term as Chair of the
Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMPC), Minister of Tourism
Jim Bradley announced today.
    "Since his appointment in 2005, Mr. Duron has dedicated himself to
strengthening Ontario's tourism industry," said Bradley. "I am confident that
both the OTMPC and the industry will continue to reap tremendous benefits from
his leadership."
    Duron has over 30 years of management experience in the media and tourism
industries. Under his leadership, OTMPC launched the highly successful
"There's No Place Like This" campaign. He is CEO and executive producer of the
Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. He also served 18 years as
president of Tourism Toronto where one of his most public roles was as the
representative of Canada's tourism sector during the North American free trade
negotiations.
    After six years as publisher of Toronto Life magazine, Bill rose to the
position of president of Key Media Ltd., owners of Toronto Life, Fashion,
Wedding Bells and Where magazines. Following the sale of Key Media to St.
Joseph Corporation, he remained an advisor to the corporation. He is also
co-owner of the Toronto Island Marina and Yacht Club, and sits on the boards
of the Greenbelt Foundation and the Canadian National Sportsmen's Shows.

strategies and the Ontario tourism industry's growth," said Duron. "I welcome
