Media advisory - Union to hold press conference explaining concern about export of jobs by Telus

    WHAT      Press conference to discuss Telus's announced plans to ship
              more jobs to the Philippines.

    WHEN      Thursday, July 5, 2:00 p.m.

    WHY       The union is concerned about the further loss of Canadian jobs,
              deterioration of customer service, and customers' loss of
              privacy protection under Canadian law.

    Background: Telus claims this is the first time cell phone clients will be
handled by agents in the Philippines, but overseas workers already take calls
for other Telus departments, including operator-handled calls, Customer
Service for home phones, and Internet technical support.
