TORONTO, Aug. 7 /CNW/ - Geranium Corporation welcomes the start the OMB
hearing into its proposed Big Bay Point Resort project:
Media are welcome to attend the hearing starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday
August 8th:
Nottawasaga Inn, Room 41,
6015 Highway 89
Alliston
The Big Bay Point Resort, first proposed in 2002, has received approvals
from the Town of Innisfil, the County of Simcoe and sign-off from the
provincial Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
It enjoys the support of the major ratepayers groups in the Town of
Innisfil and of Barrie-based environmental group, "Living Green."
The resort will improve the water quality of Lake Simcoe by reducing
phosphorus loading of the Lake. The fact that Geranium is paying the cost of
bringing sewer and water service to resort will allow 1600 local residents now
on septic systems to hook up, if they so choose, thus doing Lake Simcoe a huge
environmental favour.
Geranium has a comprehensive list of expert key witnesses set to appear,
including Nancy Mather, P.Eng., (servicing and stormwater management), Dr.
Neil Hutchinson and Michael Michalski (water quality and limnology),
Don Fraser, Brian Henshaw, Mike Roy, Dr. Derek Coleman, and Tom Hilditch
(natural heritage) and Richard Waite and Stephen Nutt (wastewater).
