CFTPA Feature Film Producer's Award; National Jury announces nominees for $10,000 cash prize

    OTTAWA, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Nominations for the 2nd Annual CFTPA
Feature Film Producer's Award were announced today by the awards National
Jury. The Award is presented in partnership with the Toronto International
Film Festival. Five nominees have been short listed to receive the Award along
with a cash prize of $10,000 CAD. The winner will be announced at a special
reception on the opening of the Toronto International Film Festival on
September 6th.
    "This Award is a real good-news story and the CFTPA is proud to once
again partner with the Toronto International Film Festival to recognize
excellence in the production of feature films," said Guy Mayson, President and
CEO, CFTPA. "Producers make it all happen, and I'm looking forward to
celebrating, not only the achievements of one producer, but the incredible
achievements of all producers working in Canada."
    With more than 30 eligible Canadian films being screened at the festival
the Jury's task of selecting only five nominees was a difficult one. Jury
Chair, Stephen Hegyes made the announcement on behalf of the National Jury
which includes David Hamilton (Hamilton-Metha Productions), Luc Déry
(Production Microscope), Peter Sussman (Aver Media) and producer/ director,
Lynne Stopkewich.
    "This was not an easy process, but having carefully looked at all
eligible producer's submissions and considering their body of work, we feel
that we have selected five of the top producer talents in the country," said
Stephen Hegyes, Chair of the National Jury. "I look forward to more discussion
with the Jury and ultimately to presenting the Award to this year's
recipient."

    The Nominees for the 2007 CFTPA Feature Film Producer's Award are:

    Founded by the Canadian Film and Television Production Association
(CFTPA) in 2006, the CFTPA Feature Film Producer's Award commends and
acknowledges an outstanding Canadian producer having a Canadian feature film
screened as part of the TIFF's official selection, and whose body of work
demonstrates commitment and passion for the profession.
