MONTREAL, April 25 /CNW Telbec/ - VIA Rail Canada's new spring national
timetable goes into effect this coming Sunday, April 29, and includes changes
to its Northern Quebec services as well as improvements and new departures in
Ontario.Significant changes to Ottawa-Toronto schedules
- The first train (Train 43) between Ottawa-Toronto will only run Monday
through Friday. Departure at 8:35 a.m. is unchanged, although arrival
time in Toronto has been revised to 12:53 p.m.
- Sunday service between Ottawa and Toronto will now be provided by Train
643, which departs at 8:35 a.m. and arrives at 12:55 p.m. This train
will also be making a new stop in Belleville at 11:11 a.m.
- Maintaining its 4:50 p.m. departure time, Train 47, in service Sunday
through Friday, has added a stop in Oshawa at 8:22 p.m. before its
arrival in Toronto at 8:57 p.m.
Toronto-Niagara Falls: New seasonal service until September 2007
VIA has added a new seasonal service on this route, operating between
June 4 and September 2, 2007.
- To Niagara Falls: During the summer, Train 93 will be departing daily
from Toronto at 10:00 a.m. and arriv in Niagara Falls at 11:54 a.m.
- To Toronto: Train 94 will depart from Niagara Falls Mondays through
Fridays at 2:15 p.m. and arrive in Toronto at 4:10 p.m. On Saturdays
and Sundays, Train 694 will depart at 5:00 p.m. and arrive in Toronto
at 6:55 p.m.
Aldershot-Ottawa: Now stopping in Smiths Falls
Departing weekdays from Aldershot at 6:00 a.m., Train 40 will now be
making a stop in Smiths Falls at 10:39 a.m. before arriving in Ottawa at 11:25
a.m. Similarly, the first morning train to Ottawa on Saturday, Train 640, will
also be making a stop in Smiths Falls at 11:26 a.m. before arriving in Ottawa
at 12:12 p.m.
New stops in Napanee
- Train 655 (Kingston-Toronto) will depart as usual on Saturdays at
6:50 a.m. and make a stop in Napanee by request only at 7:12 a.m.
before arriving in Toronto at 9:29 a.m.
- Operating on Saturdays and Sundays only, Train 668 (Toronto-Montréal)
will maintain its usual departure time of 6:35 p.m. and make a stop in
Napanee at 8:48 p.m., before arriving in Montréal at 11:55 p.m.
- Departing on Saturdays and Sundays at 6:35 p.m., Train 648
(Toronto-Ottawa) will make a stop in Napanee at 8:48 p.m., before
arriving in Ottawa at 11:25 p.m.
Toronto-Sarnia: Stopping in St. Marys by request only
Train 87, running daily between Toronto and Sarnia, will make a stop at
St. Marys on request. Its departure time of 5:40 p.m. remains unchanged,
although arrival time in Sarnia has been revised to 10:07 p.m. to allow for
the St. Marys stop at 8:19 p.m.
Stops in Ingersoll and Glencoe now by request only
Travellers in southwestern Ontario should also note changes to the
following two routes:
- Train 71 (Oshawa-Windsor), which departs at 6:45 a.m. on weekdays, will
make a stop in Ingersoll at 9:35 a.m. and a stop in Glencoe at
10:23 a.m. only on request. Arrival time in Windsor has been revised to
11:45 a.m.
- Train 671 (Toronto-Windsor) will depart as usual on Saturdays and
Sundays at 7:50 a.m. and make stops in Ingersoll (9:35 a.m.) and
Glencoe (10:23 a.m.) on request only before arriving in Windsor at the
revised time of 11:45 a.m.
Senneterre-Montréal: Now departing two hours earlier on Sundays
The departure time for Train 606, previously leaving Senneterre at
10:45 a.m., has been changed to 8:45 a.m. Travellers can now expect an earlier
arrival time of 8:15 p.m. in Montréal.
Jonquière-Montréal: New departure time on Sundays
Operating on Sundays only, Train 602, previously leaving Jonquière at 1:10
p.m., will now depart two hours earlier at 11:10 a.m. Arrival time in Montréal
