The MS Bike Tour Raises $1,240,000 for the MS Society!
MONTREAL, Sept. 6, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Close to 1,200 cyclists took part in the MS Bike Tour, presented by Medavie Blue Cross, on the last two weekends in August. This cycling event raised $1,240,000 to fund research on multiple sclerosis and services for people who have the disease and for their families.
Organized for the benefit of the Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, this event was held in the Quebec City and Trois-Rivières regions.
"We attribute this successful result to the participants' determination, generosity and commitment, as well as to the exemplary support of our partners, such as Medavie Blue Cross, the presenter of the MS Bike Tour," noted Louis Adam, Executive Director of the Quebec Division of the MS Society.
The MS Bike Tour
The MS Bike Tour, a nationwide fundraising activity, has been in existence since 1990. In Quebec each year, Vélo Québec Événements designs two 150-km routes to allow participants to get to know different regions of the province while raising money to end MS.
Multiple sclerosis is the most widespread neurological disease affecting young adults in Canada. It affects three times as many women as men. Close to 20,000 Quebecers have this disease.
